December 2008 - News from the trip
As usual there were some sad cases of animals that had been injured and neglected.

The first two pictures are of a dog that had been hit by a car. The sad thing was that people in the area reported that the accident had happened two weeks before. So for two weeks the dog had been dragging his back legs behind him. He was very pretty and friendly, he was a good weight and had a collar on so must have been owned. All his underneath was sore and he was incontinent. He was given lots of food and milk and lots of love before he was put to sleep.

The dog above was found wandering down a road, she was very thin with mangy skin and covered in ants. Worst of all she was blind and had two large infected holes in her face. She was very placid and seemed to just give up as we picked her up. She was quietly put to sleep.

The dog pictured above was also unfortunately put to sleep as he was in so much pain it was impossible to treat him. He was suffering from severe mange, his body was sore and he had swollen legs.

The three dogs above were suffering from Transmissible Venereal Tumours (TVT) and were given a course of treatment. This is one reason why neutering and spaying are so important, because it stops the spread of the cancer.

This very sick puppy pictured above with volunteer Claire was found and thought to be suffering from Distemper. A lot of other dogs in the area were also affected.
